Who We Coach

Kickboxing is for everyone. Whether you’re a complete beginner looking to improve fitness, a martial artist adding striking to your skill set, or a competitor aiming to step into the ring, our classes are tailored to your level. We coach:

  • Beginners – focusing on fitness, balance, and striking fundamentals.

  • Intermediate practitioners – developing combinations, timing, and sparring drills.

  • Competitors – preparing for specific rulesets with fight-ready conditioning and strategy.

  • General fitness enthusiasts – burn calories, tone muscles, and build confidence while learning a practical skill.

    Our Style of Kickboxing

Our kickboxing approach is old-school at heart, taking inspiration from pioneers like Benny “The Jet” Urquidez and others of that era. We emphasise strong foundations drawn from Western boxing, traditional karate, and Korean striking arts, giving students a disciplined and technical base.

To make the style more well-rounded, we also incorporate elements of Muay Thai (such as knees, conditioning, and clinch work) and the Dutch style (low kicks, heavy combinations, and high-pressure tactics).

While we draw on these influences, we stay true to our roots when it comes to style, pace, and strategy — teaching a system that values clean technique, adaptability, and the ability to impose your rhythm in a fight.

    Popular Rulesets

We coach students in understanding the differences between rulesets, including:

    • Traditional (American) Kickboxing – above-the-waist kicking combined with boxing punches, emphasising speed, timing, and clean technique.

    • Point Fighting – a stop-start style focused on precision and timing, where bouts are paused to award points for successful strikes.

    • K1 Rules – allowing punches, kicks, and knees (but limited clinch), with an emphasis on continuous action and powerful combinations.

    • Full Contact Rules – striking with both hands and legs at all levels, often used in various kickboxing circuits.

Understanding the rules helps students choose the right path for competition or personal training.

    A Short History of Kickboxing

Kickboxing emerged in the 1960s and 70s as a blend of karate-style kicks and Western boxing punches. It quickly developed into a competitive sport with strong traditions in Japan, the United States, and later Europe. Over time, kickboxing evolved into multiple styles and rulesets, influencing everything from Muay Thai competitions to modern MMA striking.

    Outcomes for Students

Training in kickboxing offers more than just fighting skills:

    • Fitness & Conditioning – improved stamina, strength, and agility.

    • Self-Defence – practical striking skills and situational awareness.

    • Confidence & Discipline – learning to overcome challenges and push limits.

    • Community – training alongside supportive peers with shared goals.
